It is the year of 2012 in the peaceful island of Honshu in Japan. The island has always been peaceful and it has very little crime rates that rarely are notified on the news. It is mainly ran by the powerful and highly respected Sasagaki Group. They have been running the island for as long as anyone can remember and have a vast amount of influence in politics. However, they also have a vast amount of influence in research and other things as well. The group ran the island with respect and prosperity in the past ten years, it all changed. Since Sozen Sasagaki rose as head of the group.
Since his rise as head of the group; things had gotten darker and more sinister on the island. As things grew more sinister, many of the research facilities the Sasagaki group used turned its attention torwards mysterious and military things. Eventually they ended up causing a event that nearly ended the world and had brought a great deal of shadows into the world by nearly starting Ragnarok. It was stopped by five teens who all but one almost gave their lives to stop. The one that died became a revered hero to the Sasagaki group and they are dedicated to trying to improve their reputation. While they still do the militaric research that Sozen started, they have also started longevity and life enchancing research.
This eventually lead to the creation and use of the Anti-Shadow suppression weapons. They are basically androids that fight shadows. However they are kept locked up in a research facility. They currently are developing the sixth generation of the Anti-shadow suppression weapons. However, since the incident took place over the last ten years, a new Sasagaki group head has arisen and with his ascendance came rumors. These rumors was about a city that exactly the same as the city of Kyoshi, a city that is just on the inside of the Sasagaki group's influence, but was made entirely of crystals. With the rise of this rumor also rose up the rumor that i you enter the crystalline city; you'd die that night. Now, the Sasagaki group seeks to discover any truth behind this rumor while others decide to see if the rumors are true for themselves.
